みんこんにちわ。

わたしわレイーチウルです。せんもんわびじねす。わたしのまくぶくだいすき!

Hello everyone.  My name is Rachael.  I am a business major.  I love my Macbook!

... and I've figured out how to type in にほんご !!!!!!!! すごいね? すごいちゃんです。

Besides this, I have had an amazing day.  I ran into the most gorgeous guy ever, and he embraced me and had a quick conversation..... and I found out what his major is.  I pretty much died, but I did that after he left.

How is everyone else doing?  みんあげんきですか?

はし"みもして。

Well, I found out that studying abroad in Japan for a semester is impossible for me, seeing that they require 6 semesters of language study before you go over... and seeing that I have a total of 6 semesters left, that makes it dumb.  HOWEVER, there is a week-long trip to study Japanese motorcar racing/Japanese culture next September that can earn me 3 credits of awesomeness (in one week?! Holy crap yes.) and thus help fulfill my Japanese minor.  The only thing with this is that the tentative date conflicts with AWA 2010.  Looks like I'm going to have to make some decisions if that date is finalized.

Japanese class is awesome.  Us watchers of anime really do have a pronunciation advantage.  I can definitely see the difference between myself and those that watch Naruto (lol.) which I have decided isn't real Japanese.

I have all of the textbook reading done for this week, and I've finished several client projects.  It's all about time-budgeting, but unlike last year, I'm making time for myself.  Yes, I'm going to taekwondo, working out, going to dinner with friends, crashing at Virginia's, and all manner of awesome things.  At least this will hold true until midterms.

Randomly, I had a very strange dream last night... it involved going to a very shady night club and a local vegetable farm.  Beyond that, I don't really know what happened.

>.<

Ahahahaha.

*ahem*

OHOHOHOHOHOHO.

My first Japanese class was hilarious.  I loved/mocked every minute of it.... maybe that's because it contrasts sharply with Accounting *cough* death *cough*.  Anyway, for the first 45 minutes, everyone was trying desperately to hide their geeky-ness.  No, not otaku-ness - geeky-ness.  There is a difference.  Here's how it all came down.

We got in pairs and introduced our partner to the class and what we both had in common.  We got to the last pair, and Martin-sensei (she is Japanese) asked what they had in common.

"We both like Japanese Animation," Paul-san says.

"Oh really!  Which shows do you like?" Sensei inquires.

"Naruto, D-------"

"OMFG WTF LOL ME TOO HOLY CRAP SUGOI NARUTO WOW SO COOL NINJAS #*&)(*$&)(&^)*&T)^" the class responds.  Meanwhile I sit there laughing my head off as people say the love Naruto.  Just because of that, they can't in any way be otaku. Idiots.  And guess what, I "believe it" wholeheartedly. >.<

So during break, the people around me start asking what anime is their favorite.  I wanted to tell them Eden of the East, but I knew that was waaaay to obscure for them to understand.  So, I say "Soul Eater" just to see if anyone is otaku.  Congratulations to Cleveland-san - he had watched it.  Everyone else looked at me blankly.  What was their favorite?  NARUTO.

Other than this, class was great.  I learned the vowels and k-s characters.  We went over greetings that I already knew, and Sensei is awesome.

I'm at the Noblesville house for the next couple of days. My parents had begun dropping not-so-subtle hints about how wonderful it is to have me at home occasionally, so I decided to indulge them. HOWEVER. My dad keeps tempting me with sweets, and there is no fitness room at home. I'm just aching to have a really good workout, and it looks like I'm going to have to suck it up and run. Ahaha.

So what's up with you guys? I had a wonderful sleepover at fierydragonsky's house - we saw Ponyo and then stayed up late and talked. Ponyo was magical, by the way. I would never get enough of the little kids just laughing hysterically at the tiniest things! You really should go see it! Anyway, in the morning, we created a video... a very special video...

I hope you guys have a great new week! I'm counting down the days until the dreaful class called "Managerial Accounting" attacks me for a battle that will last 5 months.

Ah, I haven't been on LJ in a while.  Sorry y'all.  Anyway, life has been interesting, and the client work is somewhat steady at the moment.  I'm looking forward to purchasing my 17" of glory (hahaha) - the MacBook Pro.  It's coming sooner than I thought possible!  And V-chan gets to get a free i-Pod Touch out of it... and you bet she's excited!

Eden of the East concluded its anime season, and I'm sad.  It was an epic round of 11 episodes...

So, I have exciting news! But I can't post it yet because it hasn't been made public.... BUT ITS AWESOME!

Anyway, thanks to your amazing support for my last brickfish.com embedded vote/review thing, I am indebted to you. So, I come to you again, and humbly ask that you simply click on the object below... and vote/review if you want. But a click is good enough! The more clicks I get from different places on the web, the more viral I become!

Guess what!

I'm enrolled to take a 5 cr. hour Japanese class this fall!  I'm really excited!
My entire summer and fall is planned, and I get a month and a half off before I start a Math class and Professional Writing class for the last have of the summer.  During that time, I will be freelancing my brains out to make some money and hopefully purchase a 17" MacBook Pro...  I'll be moving downtown with my roommate in an apartment on the canal!  Now, mind you, it won't have a canal view, but I will be able to turn a corner, walk down some stairs, and be right on the canal :]]

AND!  There's been $8,000 in scholarships that I can apply for in the next 2 weeks.  I won't know if I get them until July, but if I do... rent will be taken care of!  I have two people writing recommendation letters and I have to write two essays... and I have to postmark the scholarship by May 1.  There's another $1,500 scholarship that requires a small 300 word essay, and 5 portfolio samples.  I will have fun with this!  Maybe, I can actually save some of this scholarship money instead of spending it all.

EXCITING!

He is risen!

Happy Easter everyone!  I hope you are enjoying your families and praising the Lord for his most awesome sacrifice!

I'm currently at home with my parents.  I got the car this weekend, so that was nice.  I also had class at 9AM this morning (Saturday)... so it wasn't fun getting up that early and driving in on a weekend.  But, it redeemed itself - I ended up hanging out with Alyssa during the afternoon driving all around downtown.  We went to the Rock Bottom Brewery and then to the Goose on Delaware St. for the best gelatto in the city!

So, did you think that my College Saga (see previous entry)  was over? Oh no... it's not.  However, I'm going to wait a couple of more days to see if there are any more substantial updates to clue you in on.  Ha... oh the life of college.

I've figured out that I'm going to have to wait until the fall semester to take Japanese.  It turns out that the beginning "intro" class is 5 credit hours... and there's no way I'm taking a 5 credit hour course on an accelerated 6 week schedule.  I'll take some business classes instead, and save Japanese for the fall.  I'll probably pick up a good book to learn about Japanese culture and/or the Japanese language.  I'm 5 chapter's in to Learning to Bow by Bruce Feiler, and even though it was writing almost 20 years ago, it's a great insight in Japanese culture!  Thanks V-chan for lending me the book... over a year ago... but I AM READING IT.

I have a big Econ test that will determine my grade this week, so wish me luck!

Rachael

P.S. - I got a 94% on my Business Law exam! (Almost a 20% improvement...)

So, I've submitted a photo for a chance to win a $500 scholarship... which will equal one month's worth of rent (almost).   Winners are chosen from the "most viral" (or most shared) and "best of" (or the one that the judges thinks exemplifies the contest). So if you guys could vote for me, write a review, share this with your friends, or all of the above, I would be very grateful!  Currently, I'm ranked #55 out of 705 entries, so I'm doing good so far!    Just click the blue "share button" to post it to other websites.

So, fierydragonsky and I hung out this weekend, and decided to make real Shugo Chara eggs... in honor of Easter... but Easter won't get them! (Only those who have watched the show will get that last line).
